Hilma af Klint (1862-1944)
I must have been channeling Hilma. Back in 2019, I saw her amazing show at the Guggenheim but did not buy the book because I did not want to lug it around NYC. In April, now seven years later, I ordered it because I kept thinking about her work and how radical it was for her time. A few weeks later, I discovered her show has opened May 6th in Paris! I am really enjoying seeing all the posts and excitement about it. She was so interesting!

Here are some of my photos (unedited and the lighting is poor) from my visit to the Guggenheim in 2018.
You can see that her early work was very traditional. And then her work becomes cerebral and abstract as she explores taboo and mystical experiences. She was exploring modern art well before Kandinsky et al. She kept her work hidden for over 40 years. That's why we didn't know about it. And because she was a woman.
