Looking Closely

February is here and I still don’t have any new paintings to show, but I am happy to report that I am starting to get my creative mojo back. Noticing colors and shapes and little details.

This is a fallen petal from our Christmas poinsettia which I learned is called a bract. It’s a beautiful silky ruby red color.

I have also been reading my art books, journaling about what I might want to paint (or not paint) plus watching art videos on YouTube. So the groundwork is being laid.

We are going away now until mid-March. A much needed escape from winter and the stress of producing and promoting my People Wall ‘76 book last year.

Won’t take my paints but I will take a sketch book.
